I had the chance to check out one of Marfa’s great creative duo’s work this past weekend for the first time at Jamey and Constance Garza’s Furniture studio. The couple have been living in Marfa for ten years since their move from Los Angeles and Jamey’s designs are what created the interiors at two of Bunkhouse‘s hotels: Marfa’s Thunderbird Hotel and Austin’s Hotel San Jose.

Jamey and Constance Garza
All of their made to order designs are created from leather, welded steel and wood and are accented with a pop of color in their angular bases. Constance’s sense of color is also brought in with her bright striped Bolivian pillows and table linens to round out the studio’s offerings. Jamey’s furniture designs are modern and earthy at the same time allowing Marfa’s close proximity to Mexico to shine through. All of their furniture is made in their studio in Marfa while some production is outsourced in El Paso keeping it local and hands on.
I really enjoyed meeting these two Marfa locals and am so inspired by their design sensibility and use of color. I can’t wait to get my hands on some of their pieces once I get myself settled in Texas.
Take a glimpse into their studio below and check out their website for more.
