I was back in Los Angeles a few weeks ago for work and I was excited to be able to go and check out my new friend Dominique Cady’s motorcycle shop in Marina Del Rey. I met Dominique when I worked on the opening of the Heyoka Hideout where we connected over our love of merchandising and interior design. Dominique is a set designer by trade, but recently set up a shop in the front of her man’s custom motorcycle shop, Schwartzkopf Exclusive Customs(which happens to be the spot that Brad Pitt takes all of his bikes for repair).
The front shop sells everything from vintage motorcycle jackets to exclusive helmets and riding gear to support the lifestyle. The shop is merchandised so creatively and was so fun to shop through. Although I’ve never ridden a bike in my life, her store and this shop make me want to be a motorcycle chick. I’m a big sucker for a lifestyle concept that is done really well within a space, and Dominique has set the bar high with her creativity and inspiring energy. She has a flair for scoring great objects and things from flea markets and dealers and she is very resourceful at putting things together in a very creative way.
Behind the retail space is Eric’s custom bike shop with a collection of vintage bikes like I have never seen. The creativity carried on throughout the back shop with bikes everywhere and Dominique’s touch seen all around.
I’m hoping on my next visit I can get outfitted up and get on one of these guys with Dominic and her crew and ride up the PCH to the Malibu hills and pretend I’m one of them for the day.
For those of you that have a love of motorcycles and everything that goes along with loving them, stopping into DC CUSTOM DESIGNS is a must. Visit Dominique and Eric at 4140 Lincoln Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA.
