It’s been a busy few weeks for me getting back into the swing of things with work that I haven’t had anything to share with you lately. I started a exercise and diet program that has kept me spending most of my time at the gym and the rest of the time at the grocery store trying to figure out the right foods to buy. Needless to say, I’ve been a bit boring these last few weeks as you can tell by my lack of posts! I’m getting back into the swing of things now and have a lineup of interesting studio visits in the coming weeks that I will look forward to revealing soon.
Sunday I decided to make a visit to the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market which I haven’t done in quite a few months. It was a beautiful day and perfect for finding some new vintage inspiration. I found some fun stuff while I was there from art to clothing and accessories. Sometimes you find a lot in a visit to the rose bowl, other times you can walk out of there and not see one thing you want to buy (this is a rare day!). This past Sunday was definitely one of those where I wish I had an endless pocket of cash. I saw many things that channelled all of the amazing references that are a big part of my style from color, texture, utilitarian references, Japanese fashion, Bohemian, Native American, Americana, African and Asian. Take a look below at the sights.
COLOR

Two beautiful square colored abstracts that were AMAZING. Still regret not buying them….maybe next month I’ll see if they are still around.

These colored glass medicine jars make me smile. I want a table full of them in all different sizes with wildflowers poking out of them.
UTILITY
NATIVE AMERICAN/AMERICANA

Who doesn’t need a Native American adorned spear in their house? I know I certainly do…but I ran out of money by the time I saw this!
AFRICAN
BOHEMIA CALIFORNIA
TEXTURE

This is by far the most amazing piece of textile art I have seen up close and personal. I want a house to hang this in!!!!

This brown fox coat was spectacular and fit perfectly. I so don’t need this, but I really wanted to buy it!
JAPANESE

This is probably my favorite thing the entire day. I absolutely love the embroidered hippie flowers on the army jacket and then the bandana…a perfect example of why I love Japanese style so much.
So of course I wanted to buy everything above….but this is what I ended up taking home with me.

Just had to get this guy. So unique and perfect for the Asian influence trend that is happening this year.

As corny as it sounds I have an intense desire to go to one of those huge flea markets – never been. Love your pictures and the story they tell.
