WHAT I SPIED AT PROJECT LAS VEGAS SPRING 2013

The Spring 2013 collections are well on their way with NYFW starting last week and I’m really looking forward to seeing if my trend predictions will come to fruition.  Before we get started analyzing the runways, I do want to share with you some of the interesting things that I found at the shows in Las Vegas:  Project, Pool, ENK and Workroom.

Oh how I love clouds in the desert

The shows in Vegas focus primarily on the casual lifestyle with a focus on California designers and denim brands.  With that being said, it is a great market for the Japanese and Asian markets that covet the California lifestyle.  I usually am not a big fan of going to these shows, but this season proved to be a really inspiring and great experience.  I discovered some new up and coming brands and I met some very inspiring people that I am looking forward to working with on the project that Corey Lynn Calter and I are working on for Spring 2013.  All in all, it was a worthwhile trip.  Take a look at some of the things I found along the way.

The RAINBOW trend is coming into full force for the season. If you remember, I did a trend report about this back in February.  Colors are bright for Spring 2013 and reflect all the colors in the rainbow.

DENIM TRENDS had a focus on color, prints and new texture ideas.  Basically if you don’t have printed denim for Spring 2013, you will not be on trend at all.  Practically every denim company had some type of colored/printed denim.  Here are a few of my favorites and more unique ideas in regard to this trend.

I’m always inspired by interiors and merchandising, and love to see the creative ways that people put their booths together for the shows.  By far, the men’s brands way outdid the women’s brands.  Go men!

One of the best things about going to these shows is the PEOPLE that you might come across.  I met some great ones this round and also snapped some inspired outfits.

Loved this guy’s modern preppy look at the Gant booth. If you haven’t checked out this line recently, you should it’s looking really fresh. Especially the line that Michael Bastian is designing with them.

And lastly, one of the MOST CREATIVE things I saw at the show were these little leather creatures by BLAMO TOYS.  Artists use everything from recycled leather to resin, skulls and brass to create the most amazing little art toys that you have ever seen.  Seriously, if there is only one link that you check out on this post, it should be this one.  Super creative, LOVE!
