I can’t believe that summer is over already. I’ve been busy the past few weeks enjoying the end of summer and working on many exciting projects and traveling a bit. All of this has prevented me from posting in the past couple of weeks. I thought I would share all my past whereabouts with you through an Instagram photo diary. Once I get you caught up, we are off into studying the Spring 2013 collections that head down the runway at the end of this week. Oh boy! Here goes…
I discovered an amazing natural dye and print house in downtown Los Angeles called Noon design studio. Super excited to be working with her on a few projects. Here are some examples of her work.
I became friends with the owner of the Namaste Showroom downtown. I was given a pile of Vintage Levi’s Clothing and I have been wearing everything non-stop. Such a HUGE fan of Levi’s.
I went horseback riding with my friend Moonchild in the Altadena hills. It was 100 degrees, but still so fun!
One day at the office, Emily Factor and I had a print premonition. It was a crack up.
One of the many fun things to do in LA in the summer is to head to the Santa Monica Pier for their Twighlight Dance Series concerts on the pier. I went to check out one of my favorites Amadou and Mariam.
I met up with the ladies for Barnsdall Art Park’s Friday night wine tastings in the summertime. There was a gaggle of us and we had a great time.
I headed to Las Vegas for the Project tradeshow and stayed at The Encore. I was so amazed at how well this hotel was pulled together; the details were really spectacular and the window shopping was excellent!
In Vegas, I hung out with the girls of Heyoka Leather. I helped them with their first showing at market and was so excited to hear how successful the trip was for them.
My favorite Project discovery is an amazing shoe and accessories line made from recycled plastic bags called The Peoples Movement that fights against single use plastics. His booth is what caught my attention and then the owner, Mark Wystrach and his beautiful eyes is what kept me there for 45 minutes!
I bought some great jewelry at the Pool tradeshow from some young designers in Portland, Oregon called ISWAS+WILLBE.
A visit to the World’s Largest Giftstore was a must. Corey went nuts in there.
I had an awesome lunch meeting with L.A. Eyeworks genius PR Director, Brent Zerger, and got to pick out some fun sunglasses for Fall.
I spent a day in San Francisco with my boys. We had amazing food at Universal Cafe and Maverick , we saw the Cindy Sherman exhibit at MOMA, and we went vintage shopping. Such a great day that went through the night.
I also went to The Sea Ranch to visit client’s Alex & Lee to work on a big retrospective that we are creating with San Francisco’s luxury boutique, Cavalier by Jay Jeffers. So excited about this event in October, its going to be amazing. In Sea Ranch, we dug through the archives and looked through piles of slides from their early work in the 1970′s. My mind was blown yet again.
I was asked by artist America Martin to pose for her next series of expressionistic portraiture. Cannot wait to see what she does with my portrait! Make sure you read about my studio visit with her if you haven’t already here.
My friend and artist of Heyoka Leather, Angie, performed with her band The Deserters at The Viper Room. She rocked it…so proud.
I’m working on a really big brand campaign photoshoot that I am styling with my client, Corey Lynn Calter. I pulled some of my favorite jewelry from designers Annie Costello Brown, Gabriela Artigas and Dream Collective and I rented some amazing hats from Palace Costume Shop.
I also styled and art directed a photoshoot for Emily Factor’s Spring 2013 collection lookbook with photographer Lesa Amoore. I used amazing crystal jewelry from Alex & Lee and Adina Mills Designhouse to pair with Emily’s mystical dress collection. Magic happened and I can’t wait to share it with you once we put it together.
And if all of that wasn’t enough fun, I hosted a Labor Day BBQ for a small group of friends over the weekend in my front yard. Southerners are always ready to entertain, I love an impromptu party! The girls went nuts over the Adina Mills jewelry.
It’s been such a great summer and I feel so lucky everyday to experience all the things that my life brings about. Looking forward to the next phase of this year this Fall, I’ve got some great things on the horizon!
Next stop, NYC!
