I finally had a chance to catch up on the Resort 2013 collections yesterday and there were a few that caught my eye. Thom Browne wowed me(as always) in his layered versions of Preppy and many others got me inspired with ideas for the designers that I am currently working with for the Spring 2013 collections. Resort is always such a great indicator of what is coming for Spring, and yesterday I was validated that my direction for the Spring 2013 season seems to be right on track.
One collection that I have been watching for awhile now from Italy is Ter Et Bantine. I’ve mentioned them a few times in our “Ones to Watch” as well as “Best of” during the seasonal collections. This season was no different as I found myself drawn to Manuela Arcari’s raw sophistication once again. This collection has a very organic nature to it with layered textures and waxed fabrics as well as unprocessed linen. All of this came together to form a collection that I think is extremely refreshing, wearable and distinct. Her work seems very approachable and stands out amongst a crowd of sameness. Acari is a designer that goes her own way with things and this season she worked textures into the collection through unusual fabric combinations.
There are so many ideas that I love in here from the Bauhaus inspired color-blocked separates to the print combinations and Tribal references. She managed to take one of the season’s biggest trends-SAFARI-and make it pretty and quirky. I love her take on the peplum top and of course I’m in love with another use of the season’s trend in the layering of dresses over pants. Take a look at her collection below and keep an eye on this collection as it is gaining momentum.
