JEAN MICHEL CAZABAT FALL 2012 PREVIEW

While I was in NYC for Fashion Week, I quickly made a stop by Jean Michel Cazabat’s store on Bleeker Street for a presentation of his Fall 2012 collection. I have always been a fan of this designer as his shoes are sexy and fun at the same time..which I love. He has a distinct way of walking on the edge of trends and creating shoes that are bold, unique and versatile.  Three things I really go for when buying anything for my closet.

The designer talking about his collection

Tweed is a big runway trend for Fall and I loved seeing it used in booties and heels.  The exposed zipper adds a necessary toughness to the feminine shape.

I saw a lot of Pony hair used in shoes and handbags during the collections which I loved.  This bootie below is killer combining pony hair and snakeskin.  The cap toe keeps it fresh and gives it that unique edge that he does so well.

Love the shape of this bootie and the metallic snakeskin accents are perfect

And the perfect classic black bootie below.  I love the zipper going across the back…so fresh!

The night before, I sat next to Jean Michel at Libertine’s runway show which was a real treat.  Jean Michel always collaborates with Libertine on the shoes for the runway and this season’s were as amazing as they always are.  Made with a tapestry brocade, the boots are a bit 70′s rock n roll and a bit tranny at the same time.  What pushes them over the top (in such a good way) is the paillettes that were such a signature part of Libertine’s collection.

Jean Michel Cazabat x Libertine

I love Jean Michel’s sense of humor and play in his collection and I love him even more that he happens to be good friends with Johnson Hartig of Libertine.  The two of these designers have alot in common in how they approach their collections with wit and humor and I love that.

Love this classic slipper loafer in leopard

Check out Jean Michel’s website, he has some great imagery on there that I absolutely love.  It feels very fresh and different and definitely stands out.

Follow his company on Facebook to see the culture behind the collection.
