Tilda Swinton looked divine wearing an all white custom Celine ensemble to this past weekend’s BAFTAs award and at the same time I started to notice a whole slew of all white looks on the Fall runway in NY.
Designers seem to have no regard for the “No white after labor day” rule and I’m always a sucker for breaking the rules. It might not be the best choice to wear to an Italian dinner, but it is definitely a standout choice for a chic autumn gathering.
Jeremy Laing chose to close his show with a layered version of the look, and Alexander Wang featured futuristic white waxed tweed, while the girls at Cushnie et Ochs showed sexy body con versions that’ll sure to take the place of a few LBDs come winter time. Here’s a look at the designers who’ve shown inspiring white looks so far during NYFW:
Also spotted a really cool look at Sally LaPointe (oh what a great show that was, can’t wait to talk more about it!!)
And not to mention the flight suit from Band of Outsiders that I loved was white also =)
I also saw white being used as a “pop” as the new version of “a pop of color”. Designers chose to switch it up from last season and use neutrals as their pop rather than bold colors.

And in fact Tilda has recently sported the all white look a few times. Besides the BAFTAs, she also wore white looks by Lanvin to both a Rodeo event launching the new Pomellato store as well as the SAG award a couple weekends ago.
Zoe Saldana also joined in on the early trend by wearing a white Givenchy Haute Couture gown to the SAG.
This look might cost you a few extra trips to the dry cleaner but it’s all worth it! If you learn one trend from the NYFW runways thus far, this is the one to remember.
