Happy Thanksgiving my fellow fashion forward thinkers!
For once a year families gather to spend time with each other, watch some great football, eat lots of food prepared lovingly, and hopefully take a moment to count your blessings or perhaps even go out and share your blessings with others less fortunate. But, before all that, in keeping with the fashion-minded, I have a Thanksgiving themed post to share.
About half a year ago I was invited to the UCLA charity student fashion show. During my backstage interviews, a student’s unique inspiration of food made an impression on me. Each of her garments was inspired by a specific childhood favorite dish and at the time I found it intriguing among the other less original ideas hanging on the other racks. As I was preparing my Thanksgiving plans, it was hard not to look forward to some of my favorite Thanksgiving dishes and thinking back to the Spring runways, some of the strongest colors perfectly compliment Thanksgiving’s most iconic colors, and here’s hoping that these will wet both your fashion and actual appetite!
Of course we have to start with the turkey! And the Spring runways delivered a fine palette of earthy browns with the majority skewing toward a lighter shade.
We also saw the all white look continue to take its stronghold on major runways with Chanel delivering some of the finest options. And surely one of my favorite dishes at the Thanksgiving dinner is the creamy steaming hot mashed potatoes, yummm….!
And of course a slew of bright colors were presented including a vibrant yellow, reminding me of succulent corn on the cob.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
