NYFW LOOK OF THE DAY: DAY 3

So I am starting to see that this process is going to be a bit difficult for me.  I’ve never been one to choose favorites, always have a hard time when someone asks me what my favorite is.  But, I’ll just edit my little heart out and dissect and break it all down to one signature look for you.  I’m approaching this daily post as a way to show you what I think is going to present itself as super important for the Spring 2012 season.  Each look will give you an indication of what I think we will be seeing more of as the season progresses and what I think will become trends in the future.

So there were a lot of good shows yesterday! Jason Wu continued his Refined ladylike look but added a sporty vibe to it this season (which is something I am already seeing as a trend.). Doo. Ri’s Grecian sexy and sophisticated collection of architectural dresses enticed me. The Row took my breath away with their elegant white on creme collection of tailored and flowy separates inspired by Nick Cave and Tibet which were meant to whisper as they floated down the runway.  And Peter Som’s color palette and preppy chic aesthetic got me super excited about prints for Spring.

But by far, the winner of the day for me was the Rag and Bone show.  The designers wowed again with a collection of sporty chic and street edge that only they can produce.  They spoke highly of a Sport Trend that I know we will be seeing much more of in the weeks to come. The color palette was right on target and their use of color-blocking was inventive and smart.

The space-dyed crochet sweater above was enough to ensure their “look of the day” title as I know this item will be a hugely coveted item at retail come next Spring.  I also love all the elements that complete this Sporty Chic vibe that will be so hot next spring.  The cut and length of the navy pants paired with those fantastic color-blocked heels feels so right.  And I love the 80′s reference with the mirrored Ray bans.  Oh yeah….
