Aspire To Inspire

Fashion Week is officially underway and I’m all geared up to see what the season brings. This season, I will be posting my favorite looks daily from the shows the day before.  Each of my favorites will tell you a story about what I am seeing on the runways and give hints to trends that we will be reporting on in the future.

Although the official first day of NYFW was yesterday, shows and presentations started rolling in on Wednesday including Jenni Kayne, Steven Alan, and Rachel Comey.  One of the best looks from Wednesday was from one of my NYC favorites, Rachel Comey.

I love the cut of this suit and how it’s a bit boxy but also loose and flowy.  The print is a great version of black and white for spring, (which we are still seeing a lot on the runway so far),  and I love the transparent sleeves.  I have a feeling this could be a new trend on the horizon.  I also love the shape of the hat with the look. Overall, everything about it feels fresh and new and I want to be wearing this now!

I choose this look from yesterday as the BCBG collection gave such a great indication of the colors of the season. In our Spring 2012 color prediction post a few months back, we already predicted most of this spring palette.  It’s nice to know we are right on target with yellow, orange and aquas leading the color trend of the season, so far they’ve been all over the NY shows! I’m also in love with the intellectual use of color blocking juxstaposed with a bit of flounce and a touch of tailoring.  BCBG has been really hitting it these past few seasons!
