I’m leaving tomorrow to visit Asia for an inspiration trip for one of my clients and I am beyond excited! On top of visiting the fashion capital Tokyo, I will also finally get to visit Beijing, a destination that many consider to be the latest fashion frontier. Obviously Tokyo will present tons of out of the box fashion and I am ready to be over-simulated at every corner I turn. And for Beijing, I am looking forward to checking out the art scene, hopefully see something by Ai WeiWei and check out The Pace Gallery. Also I want to get first-hand experience of exactly where fashion is right now in mainland China including a trip to the newly opened Burberry flagship and all the others that have recently opened.
Just as I was planning my upcoming trip, I saw V magazine‘s summer issue which is fully dedicated to all things Asia – designers, food, culture, arts, models, actors – alright, maybe all things except for its cover. When I passed by a newsstand and saw it I had to pick up a copy and I’m so glad I did!
The Issue was inspiring in so many manners. First of all, V is totally in the same mood as I am, being intrigued by the Asian culture and its mystique and influence over the world of fashion. Plus it’s full of amazing and gorgeous editorials. One of which features Ming Xi wearing the latest couture, shot by Nick Knight. It’s probably one of the most beautiful editorials I have seen in a while…and that’s saying alot these days.
Check it out yourself, Ming did a great job being sensual, ethereal, and elusive and Nick Knight was able to find power and energy amidst Ming’s feminine display. On top of which, the multi-color hair is probably the best part of the whole story.
It is truly beautiful and flipping through the V issue has really got me excited about my trip. I will be documenting my every move in order to bring you all the inspiration I gather along my travels through Tokyo and Beijing.
Stay tuned for my Asian Diary later this month!
