When trend spotting, it is important to not only look for large dominant trends, but to also keep your eye on smaller trends that are just showing their first signs of making their way. It is harder to spot these trends because they aren’t as obvious, but these are essential for the fashion forward to remain ahead of the curve.
One emerging trend that we have seen a little bit in the past couple of season’s is the use of bandanas. Most recently they have been styled in a Western influence to the likes of RRL, Ralph Lauren, Levi’s and emerging Japanese Americana denim brands.
For Fall 2010, we see the scarf bandana used in a different way taking inspiration from the 50′s channeling some of our favorite characters from Grease. From Rizzo’s sexy greaser look to Sandy’s squeaky cheerleader uniform, the bandana scarf is emerging as a prominent accessory for the new 50′s trends that were introduced for Fall.
Henry Holland of House of Holland used bandanas tied around the head and in high ponytails channeling Sandy’s cheeky innocent look in Grease.
I’m guessing we will see more of this trend on the streets when the Spring collections are shown this Fall. In the meantime, keep your eyes out, and and for the daring….let’s take this look to the streets, ok?
